Interconnection with hydrogen production facilities, salt cavern storage, and neighbouring hydrogen schemes will enhance the East Coast Hydrogen Network System . The programme will stimulate investment of  ~£1bn in the re-purposing and development of new hydrogen infrastructure, supporting 1000 jobs, and enabling over 5GW of publicly announced hydrogen production projects to export their hydrogen across the region to 4 million homes and 40,000 larger users of gas.

In line with the UK Government’s Hydrogen Strategy, that means that East Coast Hydrogen could deliver 25% of the targeted investment, 10% of the targeted jobs and 100% of the 5GW production target.
