If you missed this webinar, now is your chance to participate again.

The BEIS has set out a mission to establish the world’s first net-zero carbon industrial cluster by 2040 and at least one low-carbon cluster by 2030. As part of this mission, Innovate has set up a funding competition called the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) which should see up to £431million invested in at least one of the six industrial clusters to deliver roadmaps, and detailed designs and demonstration projects, known as Deployment projects. Running alongside these two ISCF cluster strands is a third knowledge creation and sharing strand led by Heriot Watt University known as the IDRIC project.

The Humber region, as the largest emitting industrial cluster, has been very active developing plans for an ISCF Roadmap project and several Deployment projects. Innovate has funded CATCH and the Humber LEP to develop its methodology for a Roadmap – this is known as Phase 1 funding. If successful in Phase 1, Catch and the Humber LEP can go onto apply for Phase 2 funding to deliver their Roadmap from January 2021 through to March 2023. There is a similar Phase1/Phase2 process for the Deployment projects.

In this presentation, CATCH Technical Consultant, Geraint Evans will describe the challenge including where the region is now with regards to industrial emissions; the important technologies that we need to deploy and the initiatives and projects already underway. Geraint will present an outline of our approach to date to delivering a roadmap which will identify the optimal route to a secure, low cost, zero carbon industrial energy system by 2040 and some of the outputs from our Phase 1 work to date.
