The growing CATCH apprenticeship programme was rated “GOOD” at their first official Ofsted inspection, which took place 29th-31st January 2024, with a grading of “OUTSTANDING” for Behaviours and Attitudes.

The inspection team, who visited the Stallingborough facility over three days, highlighted the fantastic CATCH learning environment, which fosters exemplary attitudes toward learning, punctuality, and respect in all interactions from the Apprentices.

The report detailed that this positive learning culture is underpinned by high-quality, industry-led training delivered by well-qualified tutors with significant technical knowledge and expertise. Apprentices benefit from a curriculum that not only meets but exceeds industry standards, offering opportunities for additional qualifications and engaging in a wide range of skill-refining activities, including competitions and collaborative projects. The emphasis on personal and social development, alongside technical skills, particularly in promoting STEM subjects and supporting community initiatives, showcases CATCH’s commitment to apprentice development.

During the visit, the inspectors discovered extensive engagement activities, showcasing CATCHs commitment to widening participation in STEM subjects and industry careers – including programmes for school children, vulnerable groups, and adult learners – highlighting a proactive approach to community engagement and social responsibility.

The provision also received praise for integrating feedback from employer forums into curriculum development, alongside working with employers to provide practical on-and-off-the-job training, underscoring CATCH’s responsiveness to industry needs. Also highlighted was the extensive safeguarding curriculum which further demonstrated to Ofsted the commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all apprentices.

David Talbot CATCH CEO said.

“I am extremely proud that CATCH has been recognised as a “GOOD” provider of industrial apprenticeships, and achieving an OUTSTANDING rating in the Behaviour and Attitudes category with only two years of operation is nothing short of extraordinary.

This is a significant milestone for our organisation, especially considering our ambitious future plans. While I refrain from highlighting individual contributions, I must extend my gratitude to those who engaged with the inspectors  who showcased our educational and training excellence, and diligently gathered the necessary evidence to validate our collective efforts. This success is the culmination of  continued efforts from our dedicated, highly experienced and proactive team combined with excellent feedback from learners, parents, and employers”
