James joined the CATCH team in May 2017 after spending 7 years at HETA as part of the Senior Leadership Team through the role of Business Development & Marketing Manager helping to grow the business across the Humber region and beyond.

Initially as Head of CATCH Skills, James developed CATCH Skills as a training provider and working with our strategic partners to develop our skills offer to ensure CATCH are at the forefront of training provision. James has a strong background in apprenticeships & competency based training for industry in addition to working with employers across a variety of industries across the Humber region. In 2021, James then led on the work to create CATCH Apprenticeships as a specialist provider for the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals and Process industry sector.

As Chief Commercial Officer, James is now responsible for driving forward the commercial strategy for the business to widen the scope for employers in the process industries across the UK to meet their skills, competency and apprenticeship requirements. This includes a focus on CATCH 2.0, how industry can transition to net zero and match the skills demands of the future.

Hull born and bred, James is extremely passionate about championing the Humber Region and ensuring that the young people in the region have the best possible opportunity to find a pathway to a successful career. James is also a season ticket holder for Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull City so weekends are very sports related!
